FileControlUP feature allows to define and manage extension types and size for the files which can be attached to lists items and uploaded into document libraries on Microsoft SharePoint 2007/2010 sites.

With SharePoint out-of-the-box, these limitations are available at the web application level only. It is not convenient because there are some special needs like, for example, a limitation of possibility to upload textual files or spreadsheets to corporate graphics library (logotypes, banners, schemes, etc). Uploading limitation allows to have "clean" content without any garbage.

Another sample is related with the size of uploaded files. For example, media library which contains company's presentations and webinars, can have 100 MB limitation for uploaded video-, audio- or PowerPoint files, and resume library can have 10 MB limitation, because it is enough for PDF and .docx files. All these settings allow to optimize storages size and structure.

The administrator of SharePoint site can realize flexible and smart policy for uploaded files in document libraries and attachments in the list items with FileControlUP assistance.
